Analysis and Interpretation of Results from Bioassays with Insects and Mites

Professors Dr. Sergio Antonio de Bortoli and Alessandra Marieli Vacari

Description

Planning and conduct of bioassays in entomology; Basic commands and procedures for using SAS and SigmaPlot; Interpretation of measures that describe a population: mean, percentage, variance, confidence interval, standard deviation, and standard error; Regression as a foundation for Probit analysis, functional response, and thermal requirement; Frequency analysis in choice experiments (behavior and others); Probit analysis for determining lethal dose and time in pesticide efficacy and selectivity tests; Functional response to assess efficiency and preference of natural enemies; Fertility life table and use of parameters to estimate population growth (continuous and logistic growth models); Survival analysis of populations; Nonparametric analysis; Interpretation of results.
